Finding the right therapist matters.

Before we ever meet, I want you to have a sense of who I am, how I work, and what therapy together can look like.

Hi, I’m Alex.

I became a therapist because I've always been drawn to people's stories.

Long before I ever sat in a therapy office, I found myself wondering what people carried beneath the surface—what shaped them, what hurt them, and what helped them keep going.

That curiosity led me to earn my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and begin my career working with children, adolescents, and families.

For more than a decade, I've worked in a therapeutic school setting, supporting students through everyday struggles, family challenges, and moments of crisis. Some days looked like traditional counseling sessions. Other days meant responding in hallways, classrooms, or wherever support was needed most.

Those experiences taught me something important:

Healing doesn't happen because life finally becomes easy.

It happens when someone has a safe place to slow down, make sense of what's happening, and begin moving forward.

Today, New Ground Therapy is an extension of that belief.

I created this practice to offer teens (16+) and adults a calm, welcoming space where they can reconnect with themselves and build a life that feels more grounded.

What Therapy Looks Like With Me

Collaborative

We'll work together to understand what's keeping you stuck and create goals that fit your life—not someone else's.

Grounded

You don't have to have everything figured out before you come. Therapy is a place to be honest, ask questions, and start exactly where you are.

Practical

Insight matters, but so does knowing what to do next. You'll leave sessions with tools you can actually use outside the therapy room.

You Might Feel Like...

You're constantly overthinking and can't seem to quiet your mind.

You're in a season of change and aren't sure what's next.

You're juggling so much that you've lost sight of yourself.

You're tired of repeating the same patterns in your relationships or daily life.

You're functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside.

You simply want to understand yourself better and build a life that feels more grounded.

If that sounds familiar, I'd be honored to walk alongside you.

A Few Things About Me

My favorite place to recharge is on a hiking trail or beside a river.

I'm a mom of three, so I know that life rarely goes according to plan—and that's okay.

I believe small, consistent changes often create the most lasting growth.

You'll rarely find me without a cup of coffee nearby.

I love slow mornings, fresh air, and finding ways to spend more time outside.

I believe curiosity is often more helpful than criticism.

I don't believe we're meant to navigate life's hardest seasons alone.

MY APPROACH

Growth rarely happens all at once.

More often, it begins with one honest conversation.

Therapy isn't about fixing you.

I don't believe people are broken.

I believe most people have learned ways of coping that made sense at one point in their lives—even if those patterns aren't serving them anymore.

Together, we'll make space to understand those patterns with compassion, build new ways of responding, and create lasting change one step at a time.

You set the pace.

I'll help guide the path.

Ready when you are.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck, you don't have to figure it out alone.
